Our Guest: Kristen Shelley
Dr. Kristen Shelley, PT, DPT is a physical therapist specializing in dance medicine, specifically on the East Coast in Delaware and Pennsylvania. She owns her own practice, Delaware Dance Physical Therapy, providing mobile services in homes, or dance studios. She started this business to be able to provide preventative treatments and education to minimize dance injury rate in her community.
Our Topic
Today’s episode covers a variety of topics, including:
- Importance of strengthening in injury prevention but also technique enhancement
- Using weights will not cause “bulkiness” but instead load your tissues enough to execute higher level skills
- Flexibility issues? It may be lack of control/strength especially at the end ranges of movement
